Movie Summarize:

A partition of the country has already been depicted in Bollywood films. Renowned directors have used the portrayal of the partition in films at least once. Just like in the previous films, in this 'Stigma,' a production of Zahur's direction, the portrayal of the 1946 and the partition is accompanied by conflict! However, along with this, Abhishek and Karan have added a complex love story. Overall, 'Stigma' film revolves around it. Where the actors have solely relied on acting from the script's memory.

Let's start by following the rules of 'Stigma.' Begin from the end of the movie itself. Where the story of the film originates. Not in a typical climax style, but by defying conventional norms, Abhishek Varman introduces the characters very subtly in the initial part of the film. And gradually, he builds the characters' behavior and actions, weaving the entire storyline together. Therefore, in the beginning of the movie, scene after scene unfolds in various sequences. And just before the precise interval of the film, these sequences, one after another, clarify the true purpose of the story. It could be said that the story of the film 'Stigma' actually begins right after the interval.

Stigma' is a complex love story where a cancer-stricken wife (played by Sonakshi Sinha) convinces her husband (Aditya Roy Kapur) to marry another woman (Alia Bhatt) to ensure the well-being of their family. This second marriage leads to a passionate relationship with Rup (Alia Bhatt) amidst the vibrant Hussainabad, a city she visits. In this colorful Hussainabad, conversations unfold between Begum Bahar (Madhuri Dixit) and the most popular young man of the area, Jaafar (Varun Dhawan). Rup learns singing from Begum Bahar and falls in love with Jaafar. Instantly, the story of the film makes it clear that Begum Bahar is actually Jaafar's mother. On the other hand, his father is Balraj Chowdhury, alias Sanjay Dutt, a reputable journalist and newspaper editor of the region. Another acquaintance of his is Rup's father-in-law. Thus, amidst Begum and Balraj's illicit love in the past and Jaafar and Rup's contemporary illicit love, Dev, alias Aditya Roy Kapur's love story emerges as the 'stigma' in between. It's essentially the reincarnation of a good stigma.

However, it doesn't end here. In this intricate love tale, there's another twist involving the struggle of a newspaper against the Muslim League, which opposes the partition. This twist in the film is actually the crux, and its protagonist is Ahmad, also known as Kunal Khemu! Overall, director Abhishek has skillfully molded this story around complex love.

'Stigma' is such a film that can leave one mesmerized. Every frame is beautifully crafted. It requires expert craftsmanship to create such intricate handcrafted direction. Often, it might feel like this film belongs more to the artisans! Nonetheless, cinematographer Binod Pradhan took on this challenge. Besides capturing the film's narrative with his camera, he was also writing another independent and original story outside the film. This, in fact, appears to be more pronounced in the songs 'Ghor More Pardesiya' and 'Tabaah Ho Gaye.' It's as if the story of Rup was being developed within the screen.

Please note that some phrases may have nuanced cultural meanings that might not directly translate into English, so the translation aims to capture the essence as accurately as possible.

'Stigma' is a film crafted with great care, which has been beautifully made. Its beauty lies in its meticulous attention to detail. However, this very aestheticism becomes the 'stigma' of the film. The movie is excessively long, giving each star ample screen time, resulting in many scenes that feel disconnected. Moreover, the story, being quite predictable, gradually diminishes the intrigue. Thus, the qualities that should have been the strength of 'Stigma' often turn into its weaknesses.
