Movie Summarize:

A Picture's Tale revolves around an ailing boy and his relentless mother. Venki, a 24-year-old, suffers from a severe illness that offers no possibility of recovery or survival. Consequently, he demands euthanasia or mercy killing. His mother struggles as a Venki and fights for his sake. The story of the picture unfolds around this theme, primarily in its second part.

In the first part, the conflict and battle of wits between Venki and his mother are portrayed. Right from the beginning of the movie, the director remarks on the profound sorrow of this narrative. He shows everything to the audience with a critical eye. He refrains from excluding anything according to their judgment. The second part of the movie is comparably well-executed. It features Rahul Bose, Ahana Kumra, Priyamani, and Prakash Raj. Amir Khan is also present in a minor role, yet each actor's performance takes the film a step forward.

The main theme of this film is the chemistry between a mother and her son. Right from the beginning, it has a touch of something unique. Kajol and Vishal have delivered exceptional performances. They have brought out the emotions fittingly in every scene. However, at times, it seems like something is missing, which draws more attention and leaves a greater impact. The melodrama in the first half might be responsible for this. After a long time, it's quite enjoyable to see Kajol on screen in this movie. Nevertheless, while watching the film, it feels like the director was under a lot of pressure to create a good film right from the start. Thus, although it may not be easy to find flaws in the storyline, the emotional connectivity somewhat lags behind in this movie.

In this film, a highly significant subject like post-death rituals has been raised, which demands admiration. Even before this, in the movie 'Phir Milenge', director Bertram had conveyed the message of including AIDS patients into society. The audience has seen this kind of theme before, as in the film 'Paa', where the focus was on a child suffering from a medical condition. Sonali Bose's 'The Sky Is Pink' also centers around a similar topic. However, every scene in these films strikes a chord in the heart. Audiences become deeply connected with the characters in the movie. 'Salaam Venky' lacks that opportunity. Watching the film with the expectation of a good movie might allow you to watch the entire film. The story of Sujata and Venky is not what the film is entirely about. This shortcoming doesn't elevate the movie much. Nonetheless, it's worth watching at least once.

Besides Kajol and Vishal, the other actors in the film have also delivered performances that won't disappoint. Particularly, Amir Khan's acting will touch your heart. So, completely dismissing 'Salaam Venky' would not be fair.
