Sultan Ali Khan (Salman Khan) is a wrestler. His sole dream is to bring a gold medal for India in wrestling at the Olympics. Apart from this, he has another dream, to express his feelings to the Haryanvi wrestler Aarfa (Anushka Sharma) and win her heart. Sultan loves her and convinces Aarfa of his love. Both of them share a passion for wrestling, and through their mutual love, they elevate each other. In this manner, Sultan's dream of lifting India to greater heights at the Olympics comes true. However, success and fame get to Sultan's head, turning him arrogant. From here, his journey takes a turn towards the world of cinema. Amidst all this, Aarfa repeatedly warns Sultan but his pride in his success blinds him. This leads his career astray. Much later, he realizes his mistakes.
