After the accident, Princess Misha (Sara Ali Khan), the youngest daughter, is critically injured. Upon receiving a letter from Raja Ratna Singh Gaekwad, her father, at the palace, he returns. However, the King is taken aback when he sees her and is amazed. After a certain period, Misha becomes certain that her father has been murdered. On the other hand, her virtuous mother Rukmini (Chitrangada Singh) has lost her mental balance.
Located in Morbi, there is an old royal palace. There resides Princess Misha of that place. Her mother, the queen of that palace, had committed suicide. Misha's father married another woman. After that, why Misha left home is not clear. However, the movie "Gaslight" begins with the return to her house.
Misha has lost the ability to walk due to an accident. Upon receiving a letter from her father, she returns. Her virtuous mother, Rukmini, welcomes her. However, there is no sight of the King. Even Babar's special person, Kapil (Vikrant Massey), knows nothing about it. The matter astonishes Misha.
Repeatedly, he starts questioning his virtuous mother about her father. However, Rukmini remains remorseful. She informs Misha that her father will return soon. At such a time, strange events begin to occur in the palace.
Director Pavan Kirpalani has expertly wielded silence as a weapon in this film. He has skillfully employed moments of sudden noise to instill fear in the audience. For instance, the sound of footsteps on wooden floors, the creak of a door, and the sound of closing a book have been used beautifully.
While the first half of the movie is a perfect horror thriller like a series, the pace in the second half is somewhat sluggish. As a result, there is a bit of annoyance. Pavan Kirpalani has gained popularity by creating this horror-thriller film. However, it's not his best work. Many will find a slight resemblance to the 2014 American horror film "Jessabelle" in terms of cinematography in this movie.
From an acting perspective, Chitrangada Singh has truly delivered a remarkable performance. Sara Ali Khan has been predominantly seen in the role of the bubbly girl in most of the film. This time, she has broken the mold. Supporting characters played by Akshay Oberoi, Rahul Dev, and Deepak Kalra are good. The director has been able to utilize the actor, much like Vikrant Massey, to a better extent.
